Died on a Waiting List Update – New Data from B.C. and Saskatchewan
Each year, SecondStreet.org releases a policy brief examining the number of Canadian patients who died while waiting for surgery or a diagnostic scan.
The report that covered the April 1, 2022 to March 31, 2023 period was released on December 6, 2023. Since then, SecondStreet.org has received two additional freedom of information responses:

With this new data, the total confirmed number of patients in Canada who died on a waitlist in 2022-23 has risen to 17,296. It’s important to note that, since several jurisdictions refused to or have not yet provided data, this number is likely much higher.
