New Tool for Parents: SchoolOptions.ca
BRITISH COLUMBIA: As K-12 schools in Canada start to hold open houses for parents looking to enrol their kids in the 2026-27 school year, think tank SecondStreet.org launched SchoolOptions.ca today, a new site with information on public and non-government schooling options. The new site also provides parents with a list of questions they may want to consider asking when visiting schools.
SchoolOptions.ca, for example, helps parents learn what the rules are for public school choice (can they send their child to any public school or does it have to be the closest to their home). The site also provides parents with links for test score data for different schools, curriculum links, information on non-government schools in their province and more.
“We wanted to create a one-stop-shop for parents who are trying to figure out the best schooling option for their kids,” said SecondStreet.org Research Director Bacchus Barua. “For a lot of parents, the school system has changed from when they were in school, so we also put together a list of helpful questions that parents may want to ask prospective schools.”
