At the Canada Strong and Free Network conference in Red Deer, Alberta Premier Danielle Smith again endorsed the idea of reimbursing patients for the cost of cross-border surgery.

This is similar to a policy used in the European Union called the Cross-Border Directive. SecondStreet.org has written about this policy and how it can help patients extensively. In polling on health care, it’s also a very popular idea with Albertans and Canadians broadly.
