PATTY HANDYSIDES: Nearly 2,000 Ontario Nurses Working in Michigan president Colin Craig joined Patty Handysides to discuss our new report on Ontario nurses working in Michigan.

We surveyed Ontario nurses with an active license to practice in Michigan. Through that, we discovered that nearly 2,000 were actively crossing the border for work.

It’s not just the money. Availability of work and working conditions were both major reasons nurses chose to work in the U.S. If the Canadian system can attract those nurses to stay at home, it could help fix the nursing shortage.

Handysides’ show can be heard on 800 CKLW in Windsor.
