SURVIVORS OF SOCIALISM: Peter’s Story From Russia

In this installment of SecondStreet.org’s “Survivors of Socialism” series, we sat down with B.C. resident Peter Tereschemko, who grew up in Russia and moved to Canada years after witnessing the fall of the Soviet Union.

Lots of people run a side business to make some extra cash, but in Soviet Russia, it could get you in trouble. Peter tells us about how his father’s small, simple flower growing business was shut down, when Communist authorities decided they had had enough of this ‘outrageous activity.’

The interview is part of SecondStreet.org’s “Survivors of Socialism” research and you can read our report here.
