SURVIVORS OF SOCIALISM: Dana’s Story from Czechoslovakia

In this installment of SecondStreet.org’s “Survivors of Socialism” series, we sat down with Dana Kovanda, a North Vancouver resident who moved to Canada from communist Czechoslovakia when she was a child.

It was a shock the first time she saw a toy store. Seeing grocery store shelves stocked with a huge selection of fruits and vegetables was such a surprise, her dad would send pictures to their friends back home.

The interview is part of SecondStreet.org’s “Survivors of Socialism” research and you can read our report here.
