POLICY BRIEF: Survivors Of Socialism

Many Canadians are in favour of Canada adopting socialism as a form of governance, but what do people from socialist countries actually think about this bold idea?

SecondStreet.org recently surveyed Canadians who came from socialist and communist countries to learn more about their experiences, and, in particular, to ask if there are any emerging policies in Canada that are of concern to them.

We also interviewed Canadians who came from socialist and communist countries – including Venezuela, the former Soviet Union, China and Cuba – to hear their stories first-hand, where they recounted events of gross human rights violations and atrocities committed by socialist and communist governments.

Our video interviews with survivors of socialism will be released in the coming weeks, and to read our latest policy brief and review our survey responses, click here.
